Red Light Confession

Red Light Confession — theme artwork

From Leona, the songwriter

Ballad

I wrote this about the thirty seconds that decide a relationship — not the fight itself, but the red light after it. He's driving home angry, pride telling him to keep going, love telling him to stop. The traffic light became the perfect metaphor: red means stop and tell the truth, green means drive home together. Miles sings the chorus in falsetto because that's what a confession sounds like — a voice breaking open.

Pop

Same story as the ballad, different weather. Where the ballad sits at the red light, the pop version is already driving home — windows down, decided that love wins the argument. I wanted one lyric to live two lives: the quiet confession and the loud one. This is the loud one.

Lyrics

[Verse 1] Brake lights burning on the highway Empty coffee in the cup Your words riding shotgun with me And mine never showed up [Chorus] Red light confession I was wrong about being right I'd rather lose this argument Than lose you tonight [Verse 2] I drove around the block twice 'Cause walking in means I was wrong Pride makes a lousy backseat driver But it drives me all night long [Chorus] Red light confession I was wrong about being right I'd rather lose this argument Than lose you tonight [Bridge] Green means go, but I'm not going Not 'til I get this right Pride got me to this red light Love is getting me home tonight [Final Chorus] Red light confession I was wrong about being right I'd rather lose this argument Than lose you tonight Red light, red light We're still us in this red light
